//Bedford New York’s Farmhouse
Peter and Mackenzie set out to ground this 200 year old Country Farmhouse in Bedford, New York
Built in 1864, this historic gem lies on 40 luscious acres with a working horse farm and a neighboring apple orchard. It was essential to bring the natural and whimsical elements indoors. Access to nature brought a whole new energy to this project creating a picture perfect postcard moment at every perspective.
Allowing the home to breathe
By utilizing layered textures and natural elements in the furnishings, we reconnected the formal historic qualities of the home with its relaxed surroundings. Peter and Mackenzie wanted a home that everyone can walk into and feel comfortable. This was heavily symbolized with the red door. In an old early American tradition, a red door meant the home welcomed weary travelers and that they were allowed to spend the night there for protection, rest and comfort. The comfort in the home also comes from the furniture selection and accent pieces surprising every corner and working simultaneously with the jute rugs to unify the home.
Elegant and playful personality
The effortless combination of the grand piano, library, and roaming bunnies roots this home in natural simplicity.
Rooms were stripped to their original identities
Crisp white floors and walls allowed for the original qualities of the home to shine. Our clients wanted their home to speak not only to their surroundings but also to their lifestyle.
Contrasting elements and materials maintained the original charm of the home.
