Our Favorite Spring and Summer Fashion Trends That Work for Everyone

It’s been over a year into the pandemic and we all want some post-quarantine looks to make us feel refreshed and revived. While last spring we were locked down and embracing loungewear in new ways, it’s time to say goodbye to sweatpants and hello to clothes you’ll want to wear out and about, especially as the weather warms up.

While runway looks may be bold and only work on those with modelesque physiques, we’ll highlight some 2021 spring and summer trends we like that are more wearable. No matter your size or shape you can find something that’ll work for you.

Wide Leg Trousers and Denim

Ditch those sweatpants or leggings and go for a new pair of trousers or jeans instead. If you’d like a comfortable more slouchy fit you can still rock a more relaxed look but one that’s upgraded from loungewear.

You can make a statement with wide-leg trousers. MATCHESFASHION and MYTHERESA have some stylish options in a variety of colors, styles, and prices.

For jeans, we love Levi’s, which never go out of style. The classic 501 straight leg pair in a lighter wash is a great spring addition you can wear year-round.

Pastels as Neutrals

Pastels are a fun way to lighten up your wardrobe for spring, especially if you wear a lot of darker colors during fall and winter. Introduce a pastel blazer, sweater, or pair of trousers to try something a little different.

Depending on what you gravitate towards there is a range of color options to choose from like dusty pinks, buttery yellows, or sky blues.

Sunset Pink

As we look forward to warmer weather and brighter moods, a variety of sunset colors are great to wear. These colors will last through spring and into summer. Sunset pink is a fun way to add a pop of color if you don’t want to go too bright.

In an InStyle article, Ariel Sibioni from Bloomingdales speaks more to this trend stating: "Isabel Marant sent a ton of head-to-toe pink looks down the runway and I am confident this is going to be a big color for spring. The brighter pink tones are perfect for summer resort wear, such as swimsuits, easy dresses, and matching sets."

Tasteful Sheer Fabrics and Cutouts

While sheer can be bold and risqué there are also ways to do it subtlely and tastefully. Both sheer and cutout trends are runway looks that can be modified and done in a more wearable way.

Blouses with sheer sleeves or layered with a camisole are a great way to play with the sheer effect while still feeling covered and comfortable.

Wearing pieces with cutouts doesn’t mean you need to be revealing. A sweater with arm cutouts or a dress with small side or back cutouts are ways to have fun with the trend and show a little skin without feeling like you’re baring it all.

Embrace the Classics

When in doubt, classic and timeless are always good ways to go.

A classic trench coat is a great spring item to transition from winter to spring weather. They’re so versatile and great for those April showers.

Crisp whites are a wardrobe staple. White pieces are timeless and last through spring and summer. You can embrace white in almost every item from blouses, tee shirts, knit tops, dresses, and pants.

Spring is also a good time to embrace soft and pretty floral patterns. If you want to add some garden-inspired looks to your closet this spring, check out Reformation’s collection of floral dresses.
