AHG Spotlight: Hudsvon Valley and Catskills Home Design Businesses We Love

At AHG Interiors we love to support local businesses. In many of our projects, we source great products and supplies from places throughout the Hudson Valley and the Catskills. They’re an important part of making our stunning designs a reality.

If you’re local to the region and want to break away from home depot and the big chain stores, here’s a spotlight on some of our favorite vendors.

The Door Jamb

The Door Jam

The Door Jamb in Shokan is a family-owned business that offers a variety of salvaged windows and doors at discounted rates. When product distributors have a surplus or pieces with minor cosmetic defects they send them to The Door Jamb, which is why they’re able to offer such great prices.

When you buy with them, they also offer door modification and door hanging services.

We’ve used The Door Jamb for a number of our projects including Sven where we fully renovated an old A-frame home in the Catskills. The Door Jamb helped us with all new windows, doors, and skylights.

If you’re near the Catskills and are looking for new doors or windows at a great price, then check out The Door Jamb.

Williams Lumber

Williams Lumber

Another family-owned business, Williams Lumber is a hardware and lumber supply store with seven locations throughout the Hudson Vallery and the Catskills. We frequently visit their Rhinebeck location to get supplies and materials for many of our projects.

For our project Sven, they were vital when it came to transforming the kitchen from dark and dingy to light and modern. They provided the new high-gloss cabinets and white quartz counters that brighten up the space.

They offer lumber, building materials, paint, hardware, lawn and garden products, and more. They also have locations in High Falls, Hopeful Junction, Hudson, Pleasant Valley, Red Hook, and Tannersville.

When you need supplies for any home design or construction project Williams Lumber has got you covered.

Athabold

Athabold

Athabold in Germantown is a local floral design shop. They make stunning, elegant, nature-inspired floral arrangements.

Styling, the process of sourcing and placing decorative accents in a home, is the finishing touch of any project. It completes the space making it look inviting and lived-in. Nothing makes a home feel more welcoming and beautiful than plants and florals.

When we need gorgeous arrangements Athabold is one of our go-to spots. They also offer home decor products that add a unique touch to any space.

If you’re planning a wedding, special event, or just want to brighten up your home with unique floral and plant arrangements then Athabold can help!

Hops Petunia

Hops Petunia

Another floral shop we love to frequent is Hops Petunia in Kingston. We use them to style many of our projects.

In addition to beautiful floral arrangements, they also offer a selection of lovely home decor and accents items, including kitchen and bath products, pillows, throws, candles, ceramics, and accessories.

They’re another great find if you’re looking for special and unique pieces that you can’t find at some of the bigger chain stores.

Irwin Garden

Irwin Garden

If you’re exploring Rhinebeck Village, then Irwin Garden is a must-visit! The small husband and wife-owned boutique offers a curated range of home goods including fresh and dried florals, ceramics, scents, and decor.

Many of the items they feature in their shop are products they love and have in their own home or items they’ve sourced on their travels. If you’re looking for one-of-a-kind pieces or stunning dried florals then Irwin Garden should be on your list.

Blue Barn Marketplace

Blue Barn Marketplace

If you love shopping for vintage gems, then you’ll love Blue Barn Marketplace.

When we’re looking for amazing antiques this spot is a staple of ours. We love to blend vintage and modern styles in our projects, and Blue Barn is a treasure trove.

In addition to vintage furnishings, you’ll be able to find vintage clothing, art, decor, and home goods. Located in Shandaken, the venue features multiple dealers so you know you’ll find a range of pieces. Whether you’re looking for turn of the century, midcentury, or country vintage pieces Blue Barn will have it.

Lost Quarry

Lost Quarry

Lost Quarry makes truly stunning and unique ceramics that are inspired by the natural world. Each piece is handmade with sustainability in mind, and no two are the same.

They make ceramic vases, decorative pieces, plates, mugs, and lamps. All are designed and created in their studios in Brooklyn and upstate NY.

They don’t have their own brick-and-mortar shop but their pieces can be purchased online and at a couple of boutiques in upstate NY including Ravenwood in Kerhonkson and Rivertown Lodge in Hudson. If you’re in NYC you can find their beautful pieces at Oroboro.

Sawkille & Co.

Sawkille & Co.

On our list to visit is Sawkille&Co, a furniture maker based in Rhinebeck. They make stunning handcrafted home furnishings. Their aesthetic blends traditional and modern elements and they offer a range of products including tables, seating, bed frames, dressers, and more.

If you want to celebrate local craftsmanship in your home, then pay Sawkille&Co. a visit.
