Nestled amidst the Catskill Mountains of Ulster Park, you'll find this modern waterfront gem that we transformed into an experiential escape, perfect for entertaining.

The original space was a blank slate, though it had recently been renovated it felt very sterile, lacking character and personality.

Luxury boat design offered a spark of inspiration. Wood-lined walls and subtle nautical touches create a warm and inviting ambiance. The kitchen lights, reminiscent of miniature portholes add a whimsical yet sophisticated touch. While the interplay of geometric patterns in textiles throughout pay homage to sailing stripes.

Our challenge was to add space and functionality without increasing the footprint of the home. Removing the breakfast nook allowed us to create an inviting entry while expanding the kitchen, making space for a luxurious second island. We transformed the back cabinetry into floating wood shelving to create openness. The original laundry room became an intimate office.

The stunning Hemlock paneled walls and the fireplace adorned with tumbled stone, lend rustic charm and are a captivating focal point in the living room—setting the tone for evenings by the fire.

A blend of mid-century and rustic elements adds character, with vintage textiles and furnishings incorporated throughout infusing a touch of nostalgia. Balancing these elements with modern pieces keeps the spaces fresh and current. Thoughtfully curated artwork and decorative accents create a lived-in and cozy atmosphere.

Environmental consciousness played a vital role throughout the process. Original appliances and materials were kept or reused when possible. Builder-grade cabinets were enhanced with custom pieces and sustainable, locally manufactured furniture reflects our commitment to eco-conscious living.

As you move through the home, stunning vistas are uncovered from nearly every room, as the design fits seamlessly into the natural beauty of the surroundings.

The home’s exterior called for the same thoughtful attention. Carefully selected deck furniture complements the river scenery while a boat sail finds a new purpose as deck shade, tying back into our nautical inspiration. On the lower deck, the custom cedar hot tub invites you to luxuriate and enjoy breathtaking sunsets.

The final result is a beautiful mountain retreat that embraces modern luxury living, offering a unique experience in an eco-conscious and timeless environment.
